Find lost colony worlds
Identify worlds having surviving human colonies. Establish satellite observation. If possible, make contact with the natives and establish relations. Establish a landing facility and beacon. Provide assistance to the local population as appropriate.

Prepare suitable worlds for future human habitation
Earth-like world that are not yet supporting human life should be surveyed and prepared for human habitation. Earth-stock microbes and seed are provided to form a base of terrestrial life. Observer satellites should be placed in orbit, and if possible, a landing area and beacon should be established for subsequent missions.

Recover pre collapse technology
The current technology has yet to attain the same level as before the collapse in many critical areas. Spacing technologies and surviving reference materials are particularly valued. A bounty is paid on recovered material. Surviving pre collapse hyperdrives are extremely valuable. Pre ruin drives are far superior to the existing models.

Map navigation hazards
Navigation hazards should be identified and located and mapped.
